San Francisco State University
SFSU is part of the largest system of higher education in the country granting bachelor's and master's degrees, the California State University (CSU). The 23 campuses served 397,000 students in fall 2004. SFSU awards bachelor's degrees in 112 areas of specialization and master's in 96. It offers a Ph.D. and Ed.D. in education with a concentration in special education.
Clinical Psychology
The program's main goal is to produce well-trained theoretically grounded, ethically competent psychotherapists. The primary emphasis is on clinical training. Students who wish to participate in research can do so, but research participation is done outside of and in addition to the full-time requirements of the program. The theoretical orientation is psychodynamic, with emphases in family and community systems.
