Cerro Coso Community College
Cerro Coso Community College is one of three colleges in the Kern Community College District. The College is charged with the responsibility of providing educational opportunities for the widely separated desert, mountain, and valley communities within a sweeping 18,000 mile, four county, region of eastern California. Cerro Coso, as an institution, has a long history of valuing students as individuals with unique capabilities and needs and a teaching-learning process that motivates students towards excellence.
Nursing (CNA/Home Health Aide)
Cerro Coso Community College has a variety of healthcare programs that suit a variety of needs and student interests. The Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) / Home Health Aide (HHA) track requires pre-registration with the Department of Health Services. See the Counseling Center for assistance with pre-registration with DHS. The CNA program is generally 4.5 hours M-Th for 9 weeks (refer to College Schedule and/or the course instructor as the scheduling for this course can vary depending on clinical and instructor availability), is five units, and takes 162 hours. The HHA course requires 5 hours M-F for 2 weeks, is one unit, and takes 40 hours.
