Nuclear Medicine
The student technologist learns about patient care, radiation physics and safety, preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, diagnostic imaging procedures, radiation detection equipment, computerized imaging cameras, and research procedures. During the 12-month certificate program, students take formal coursework and complete clinical hours to make up a 40-hour week. This program is full time for 52 weeks, and the program schedule extends through academic vacation periods. In addition, a minimum of 24 hours of career observation in a nuclear medicine department is required.
