Allan Hancock College
Allan Hancock College is a California public community college located in northern Santa Barbara County. Approximately 10,000 credit students enroll each semester at one of the college's four locations in Santa Maria, Lompoc, Solvang or at Vandenberg Air Force Base. International students take most of their courses at the main campus in Santa Maria, a 105-acre park-like setting that provides students with exceptional teaching and state-of-the-art technology. The Board of Trustees recognizes that diversity in the academic environment fosters cultural awareness, promotes mutual understanding and respect, and provides suitable role models for all students.
Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy
The Medical Assisting program offers four options to provide students with preparation for work in a medical office or clinic. Classes are offered toward certification in the following specialty areas: Option #1 - Clinical/patient care area (“back office”). Option #2 - Administrative/reception area (“front office”). Option #3 - Medical billing certification. Option #3 - Phlebotomy. Certification in options #1 and #2 can be completed in three semesters. Certification in option #3 can be completed in two semesters. Option #4 can be completed in on semester. Beyond certification, an associate of science degree can be earned in Medical Assisting with completion of additional general education courses.
