Cerritos College
Founded in 1955, Cerritos College is a public comprehensive community college serving an area of 52 square miles of southeastern Los Angeles county. The college offers degrees and certificates in 87 areas of study in nine divisions. Over 1,200 students successfully complete their course of studies each year.
Emergency Medical Technicain
The EMT program at Cerritos College is approved by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services Emergency Medical Services. It provides all requirements to qualify students for certification as an Emergency Medical Technician within the state of California by successfully completing an examination offered by Los Angeles County. The Cerritos College EMT program consists of a lecture course (HO 9) and clinical laboratory course (HO 9L). Students attend 3 hours of lecture and 3 hours of on-campus lab each week and complete approximately 5 hours of arranged time each week in an emergency room and riding in an ambulance. Students who successfully meet the course requirements will be given a certificate of completion.
