East Los Angeles College
East Los Angeles College (ELAC) was established in 1945 and was first located on the Garfield High School campus. In 1948, the college moved to its present 82-acre site on Avenida Cesar Chavez in Monterey Park, a suburb located six miles from the Los Angeles Civic Center. ELAC is one of the nine public community colleges within the Los Angeles Community College District.
Emergency Department Assistant
The Emergency Department Assistant training course prepares individuals to render basic life support at the scene of an emergency and during transport of the sick and injured within an emergency medical services system. A certificate is awarded to those satisfactorily completing this course.
Upon successful completion of the First Responder course, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion from East Los Angeles College and American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider card. After completion of this course the student is qualified to sit for the National First Responder Certification Examination by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
