Orange Coast College enhances student learning by providing exemplary programs leading to the Associate of Arts degree and the Associate of Science degree, transfer to other institutions of higher education, occupational certificates and continuous workforce improvement, as well as quality instruction in basic skills and English as a Second Language. Additionally, the college is a partner in contributing to the economic vitality of the community and to serving the community’s diverse needs for lifelong learning.
The certificate program is approved by the American Dental Association. Graduates are eligible to take the California Registered Dental Assistant Exam and the National Certification Exam upon program completion and qualify for their State radiation license and coronal polishing license. In addition, the associate degree can be obtained by completing the Certificate of Achievement and Associate in Science Graduation Requirements as outlined in the Graduation Requirements section of the catalog. The Dental Assisting program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has been granted the accreditation status of approval. The commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education.
