Job description:
Physician assistants provide health care services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. They take medical histories, examine and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and X-rays, make diagnoses and prescribe medications. They also treat minor injuries and may supervise technicians and assistants.
Work environment:
Physician assistants may work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes or private physicians' offices.
Training requirements:
Physician assistants are required to earn their master's degree. They are licensed by the State of California Physician Assistant Committee.
