Job description:

Licensed clinical social workers help people function in their environment, deal with relationships, and solve personal and family problems. Social workers often see clients who face a life-threatening disease or a social problem, such as inadequate housing, unemployment, a serious illness, a disability, or substance abuse. Social workers also assist families that have serious domestic conflicts, sometimes involving child or spousal abuse.

Work environment:

Licensed clinical social workers work in offices, hospitals or residential facilities. They may travel to visit clients or attend meetings.

Training requirements:

Licensed clinical social workers are required to earn a master's degree and perform 2,000 hours of clinical work. They are licensed by the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
