Radiologic Technologist/Technician
Salary range:
$48,689 – $72,827
Job description:
Radiologic technicians and technologists take X-rays and administer nonradioactive materials into patients’ bloodstreams for diagnostic purposes. Radiologic technicians and technologists prepare and position patients, and set controls on the X-ray machine to produce X-rays of the appropriate density, detail and contrast. They then take the X-ray and develop it for review by a physician.
Work environment:
Radiologic technicians and technologists work in hospitals, medical laboratories and physicians' offices. Some travel to patients in vans equipped with sophisticated diagnostic equipment.
Training requirements:
Radiologic technicians and technologists are required to complete a certificate program lasting one to four years. Some employers may require an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree.
