Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Salary range:

$39,604 – $53,004

Job description:

A licensed practical nurse (LPN) cares for the sick, injured, convalescent and disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses. They provide basic nursing care, including monitoring vital signs and observing patients to report adverse reactions to medications or treatments. An LPN collects samples for testing, performs routine laboratory tests, feeds patients, and assists with bathing and personal hygiene. A licensed practical nurse is the same as a licensed vocational nurse.

Work environment:

A licensed practical nurse can work in hospitals, nursing care facilities, clinics, doctors' offices and private homes.

Training requirements:

A licensed practical nurse is required to complete a one-year certificate program. They are licensed by the State of California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
